Transitions

transitions

It’s been quiet here for a few weeks, and sometimes it feels good to take a break away from routine. The holidays are almost over now, and we’re coming back to Singapore tomorrow. We’ve flown quite a bit in the past three weeks, so this has become a rather familiar image for us of late…
Going back to my parents’ place always feels like stopping time, taking life at a much slower speed to really enjoy their company and my brother and sister’s. I used to get more things done at home in Italy, but now I just enjoy taking this time off, eating everything my mom cooks, and play with the kids. On a subconscious level, I am sure that these are all pretty inspiring things anyway, so we’ll see about that later!

We took a trip to Paris and the South of France. I hadn’t been back since 2004, and it still feels oddly familiar, all the cultural references, the passion for American indie bands and obscure cinematic references. I suppose I do still feel culturally French in some way or another, and this trip confirmed it.

And we flew to Toronto, for what will be the next step in our lives, soon. It’s odd and wonderful how you can immediately feel at home in a big city you don’t know well yet…I feel about Toronto the same way I feel about parts of New York and Brooklyn. Only more affordable, which cannot hurt! I’ll update more on this soon.

So what lies ahead now:
The Manila Mini Tour!
I’ll be playing 2 shows in the Philipino Capital next week, stop by if you’re around!
Both shows are parts of the A FEST 2010 festival, featuring bands from South East Asia. The gigs should start around 10PM and last well into the wee hours of the morning.

Friday 16th April (playing around 1 AM, so Saturday technically)
Saguijo Cafe and Bar
7612 Guijo St., San Antonio Village, Makati City

Saturday 17th April
(playing around 10PM)
Mag:net High Street
2nd Floor, Cluster B3, Bonifacio High Street

Never been to Manila, and I’ve heard cool things about the city. Can’t wait to check it out!
