The Boy Who Sees With Stones
A boy, born with eyes made out of stones, sees nothing but darkness
Or so we think…
What will a boy see if he lives in a world of stone cold darkness? With eyes made out of stones, the boy sees what he wants to see as he imagines a world through his mind’s eye. “The Boy Who Sees With Stones” offers a multi-sensory experience for those who wish to join him in his journey of creating a world that he will be existing in, is still existing in and where he once existed…
Presented by Esplanade, “The Boy Who Sees With Stones” is an open story telling project that uses live devised music and sound, multi-media art and animation to excavate and extend imaginations lost in the process of growing up. Exploring the notion of “collective musing”, we invite the public to contribute episodes of imaginations they used to have when they were young by submitting write-ups at a dedicated website. The collaborating artists will then pick out the appropriate and interesting ones, mix in with their own to propel the story into fruition.
The project employs music, sound, multi-media art and animation in a theatrical setting rather than a screening environment, stimulating the audiences’ senses and perspectives. With live electro-acoustic music and sounds devised by Darren Ng (sonicbrat) and Giuliano Gullotti (amberhaze), sound-tracking live multi-media art and animation by Ling Wei (TW), Lyu Shu-Ya a.k.a. bird (TW) and Ng Wen Lei; “The Boy Who Sees With Stones” is an intimate night swim in a sea of nostalgic imaginations through live sounds and visual art.
